From the Desk of the President It may be the middle of winter but that doesn't mean we have been idle. In early February one of the Washington School 4'' grade classes visited the Heritage Center. They are currently studying Michigan history so our displays fit in nicely with their school work. It was amazing to hear them relate the discussionstotheirown grandparents lives. It was fun to watch all of the hands being raised, sometimes 5 and 6 at a time. There is another 4' grade class which we expect will be visiting us soon. We have purchased a plaque on which the names of the Charter Members will be inscribed. This will be on display shortly. We have also thought about doing this for our "Lifetime Members". This summer we will be working on locating and identifying objects of historical interest, like old mine sites, the keystone bridge etc. With this information we hope to map out a heritage trail. |
